How to Send the Perfect 1st Text After You Get a Woman’s Number

Here’s My Process For Following Up With A Woman After I Get Her Number

You aren’t the only guy going after the girls you’re interested in.

While that statement is exceptionally simple, it is also crucial to keep in mind if your goal is dating your ultimate woman.

Why?

Because chances are she’s giving out her number on a regular basis and, as a result, you need to maintain (or build) her attraction in you EVERY step of the interaction.

You did yourself well in getting her number, but if you want to actually date her, it’s what you after you receive her number that sets you apart enough to make her want to date you.

In this post, I’m going to show you how I do that with my first text. You’re going to learn how to solidify her attraction and consistently turn your numbers into actual dates. There are just a few key principles you need to know and they are very easy to learn.

You see, a lot of guys can get a girl’s number, but what often happens is they get so excited about pulling numbers… that they give little thought to what to do with them.

(I’m going to avoid the debate of calling versus texting for now, but what you should know is texting is better during these early stages. Not only is it becoming the de facto way to communicate (especially with people you just met), but it’s lower pressure for her, lets her respond when she has the time, and vastly increases YOUR chances of hearing back from her.)

So let’s talk about how to nail that first text, so you can maintain (or grow) her attraction in you and move closer to that first date.

What Your 1st Text Subconsciously Tells Her About You

Though you are only sending 1-3 lines of text, you are giving off (often unconsciously) signals that tell her a lot about what type of guy you are.

For example:

1. Is meeting women a typical behavior for you?
2. Do you have high Social Value?
3. Are you easily manipulated or do you have a strong sense of personal identity?
4. What kind of personality do you have? Will you be able to excite her and make her laugh? Or are you boring like every other guy?
5. Are you needy or do you have other things going on in your life?

These are just a few of the things she will subconsciously pick up from your text messages… and they impact her decision of whether or not she’ll want to move forward with the relationship.

This may seem like a lot pressure to cram on a few lines of text, but once you incorporate these principles into your text game you will naturally give off the right signals.

To begin, we need to look at why most guys don’t get this right.

First Text No-No’s

For many guys the first text is a stressful, agonizing experience. You sit there wracking your brain for hours to come up with the perfect zinger to send… but then end up with something brilliant like:

• Hey what’s up?
• Hey cutie, it was nice meeting you last night. Want to hang out tonight?
• How is your day going?
• What are you up to?
• Do you remember me? -{your name}
• Hey it’s {name} from the bar/party/club last night. What’s up?

These types of texts are typical and THAT’S WHY they’re boring.

Instead of setting you apart, they lump you right into the “lame/boring” category with every other guy.

Not only are they completely devoid of emotional impact, but they kill any initial attraction you built up with her when you got her number in the first place.

What A 1st Text SHOULD Do

How do you write a 1st text that sets you apart and makes her excited to text you back? There are three essential ingredients I’ve found you need:

1. It needs to set a fun, playful tone for future interactions
2. It needs to engage her emotions, causing her to re-affirm her attraction to you
3. It needs to compel her to respond

If you can accomplish all of these in your first text, odds are she will not only respond positively, but will be much more willing to move forward with you.

Let’s take a look how to each element works and how to incorporate them together in your first text.

1. Setting a Fun, Playful Tone

This may sound crazy at first, but fourth-grade humor should be the underlying theme for most of your text messages, including the initial interaction. (This stems from the larger point of your overall successful text strategy, but that is too big for one article. You can learn more about that here.)

Light-hearted, super-silly jokes win women over because they get her constantly associating positive and playful emotions with you.

You can accomplish this by using a variety of tools: nicknames, role-playing, teasing, etc. Plus, always remember that the way you word things has a dramatic effect on how it is perceived, like “dancing” vs “bust-a-move.”

2. Engaging Her Emotions and Re-affirming Attraction

The most powerful and important element of your first text is engaging her emotions.

The primary goal of your initial texts should be helping her re-experience the feelings of attraction you created when you got her number. You want to continue with whatever you did to make her attracted in the first place…

… and the easiest way to do so is by referencing a topic from your past conversation.

This will cause her to recall her time with you and to feel those same emotions she felt at that point – the very emotions that were the foundation of her attraction to you (and you to her as well).

The last thing you want is to have to start back at Square One and re-build positive emotions in her. Instead, pick up where you left off and you’ll be able to move your relationship along much quicker.

3. Compelling Her to Respond

How do you compel attractive women to consistently respond to your first texts? The same way you get anyone to respond: by asking a question or making a statement that requires more info.

Now here’s the catch: you can’t just pop her any old question or statement… otherwise, Hey what’s up? would be effective. What kind of question do you ask? Simply take a basic question and re-word it so it becomes fun and playful.

Example:

What’s up? becomes What kind of mischief are you causing today?

Here’s another example that would require additional information: I just figured out what you would be if you were an animal. If she wants to know the answer she has to text you back.

The secret is to make the statement about her personally. Nothing makes a person more curious than what someone else thinks about them.

What an Effective First Text Looks Like

Imagine that during your conversation she told you how she used to always go to the zoo to see the penguins. She was obsessed with them and went to bed every night until she was twelve with her stuffed penguin, Chilly Willy.

When it comes time to text her, you can now draw from that story to not only show that you listened (good job), but more importantly, to evoke all those emotions again.

Next you compel her to respond by adding a question or statement that requires more information.

You then set a fun and playful tone not only by the way you word your text, but by adding in things like nicknames, role-playing, teasing, etc.

If you put it all together it would look something like this:

Hey my little penguin princess, what kind of mischief are you causing today!?

Or

Hey my little penguin princess, I just realized which celebrity you remind me of.. crazy crazy

As brief and silly as these messages seem, they accomplish a lot:

• They cause her to recall the positive feelings she had when sharing that story with you, re-affirming her attraction to you.
• They also demonstrate that you are not like every other guy and compel her to respond in a playful way.

This puts her guard down and sets the tone for a successful interaction. The first example even lets you know what her plans are for the day… and you can then use this information to move the conversation forward and perhaps even plan a meet up. Not bad for a few lines of text.

As you begin using this system, you should know that while the exact words you use are pretty important, the main thing to worry about right now is following the 3 principles I just laid out (and I KNOW they work because I’ve been using them successfully myself for quite some time now).

And that’s part of the beauty of it: you no longer need to stress over what to say.

Next time you get a number, you just need to remember these 3 principles as you recall the interaction and you’ll naturally know how to follow up with her.

It’s OK if it feels weird the first time you try it — it’s something new. But remember, if you aren’t happy with the results you’re getting right now, the only way to change that is to change what you’re doing.

So give it a shot and allow yourself the opportunity to see what happens. What’s the worst that could happen? What’s the *best* that could happen?

I’ll finish with one last note: if you are still following a 3-day or any other kind of rule about how long to wait until you send the first text, cut it out already!

The feeling of attraction is fleeting, so you have to strike while the iron is hot.

Don’t give her time for the memory of you to fade away… or, even worse, get replaced by another guy. You should almost always text a girl within hours of getting her number, and never later than the next day.

10.   Bonnaroo -  Not only does Aziz come down to the dirty south, where I am living for a few months, to deliver awesome sexually-charged comedy, but he ALSO enjoys the local produce – aka mushrooms.  It’s nice to have a comedian tell a few jokes about cool drugs, instead of talking about doing blow off a 40 year old hooker in upstate new york. 

9. Raaaaaaaandy – If you made the mistake of watching that horrible movie Funny People, you will remember him as the only damn highlight.  Who wants to watch Adam Sandler in a movie that tries to copy Philadelphia, but at the last minute he survives.  Then goes on to try and steal back his average looking ex-wife.  I only watched this movie because I saw so many hilarious videos of Raaaaaaaandy on youtube.  This movie should have been edited down to the 3 minutes he had onscreen.  The rest was crap.

8.  Fuck Tales - I will never tell a sex story again.  I will only tell fuck tales.  Aziz is a genius for thinking of this term.  He also reminds us all how baller it can be to die while eating a girl out in a hot tub.  Two precious lessons.

7.  Flight of the Conchords - Now this show is pretty funny, but they are always singing songs.  Aziz Ansari is one of the few badass characters to NOT sing a lame song to make me laugh.  He was just racist against Australians.  And really who isn’t?  They are always surfing and working on their tans and waxing each other’s abs.  No thanks!

6. Best Lil John Impression Ever – If you have ever seen Parks & Recreation, it’s a parody of the Office which is a parody of the UK show the Office, then you know what I am talking about.  He knows how to liven up a party on a show that is trying to be another show that is trying to be another show.

5.  Kanye West -  Not only did he party with Kanye West, he then went on to tell awesome jokes about it.  THEN he got his cousin on Kanye’s website.  That is baller.  Also very few white guys hang out with Kanye.  So he is in the minority.

4.  South Carolina -  He is from South Carolina but everyone thinks he is from Libya.  People are impressed that he can sound so American.  I have been to South Carolina and between the dip and the missing teeth I didn’t know what anyone was talking about.  I am impressed that I can understand him, but not because I expected a libyan accent, I expected a big redneck one.

3.  He has a DJ -  I am always happy when there is more work for DJs in this world.  Everyone should have badass entry music every time they walk into a room and especially on stage.

2.  Google - This playboy goes out there and googles himself.

1.  A sensual evening – This is the best comedy central special that I have seen in years.  I was in my room laughing my dick off and my roommate ran in to see if I was dying.  I am 100% gonna have sex while watching this in the near future.  And when I do I will let you know if it was better than watching SuperBad while banging Sparkles doggy style.  Because that was pretty badass.

Basically this guy is one of the few comedians who doesn’t tell jokes about how lame he is.  This guy is an up and coming legend.  I need to keep him famous so he keeps telling the jokes that I love.  I will never look at CVS the same way again, that’s for sure.

I was really curious to see what was up with this chick.  First off all she is rough.  I mean I got into this game to meet beautiful and amazing women and this girl is wicked crazy.

All week she was making comments about how men don’t understand women.  The thing is all of her comments were the kinda crap you read in FHM or Maxim.  You know, the stuff that is totally inaccurate and useless.

Her big thing is that she is part of the EFT scam.  If you haven’t seen tapping, you are gonna love the video.  The thing is tapping is supposed to remove your anxieties.  But she taps ALL THE TIME.  It’s really hard to not laugh when you are in a seminar and this girl is tapping like a maniac.  She just taps her chest all the time.  I had a friend when I was younger who had a simliar tic.  But he had MS and if I didn’t know it was on purpose, I would think she had a nervous system disease.

So imagine you’re in a bar and you see a girl tapping her chest.  Over and Over.  It’s really fast and looks super nervous.  But she believes that you can tap anything out.  Including shit tests.  I almost died when she said that.  It’s another video highlight.

She was really weird during Hypnotica’s lecture and said she was doing some weird tantric thing.  She was being super sexual and squirmy and it really just weirded me out.  I guess she wrote something on her blog about banging a bunch of guys there.  Some of the instructors or whatever, but honestly it’s really gross to me.

When I look at a woman I look at her upper arm to see if there is hidden fat and then I look at her hands.  And based on her hands I would say Erika is mid 40s.  I don’t know her “actual” age.  I just know how old she looks.

The other weird thing is that she spends all day slathering lipstick on.  I don’t know who taught her how to use make up but it was clearly a clown or blind person.  I think she may have purchased a makeup shotgun from the Simpsons.

Update I wrote the above right after I left Vegas.  I felt bad that it was so harsh and the video is so rough that I wasn’t going to post either.  But she posted a bunch of lies on her blog.  I am totally not down with that.  I have written about my being a dick so many times on here that you know I only tell the truth.  Writing all this stuff about Vegas has probably hurt my career but I gotta do what I believe.

Anyways, the thing that really upset me is that on her blog she called the two girls that her friends abused “porn stars” the girls are actually models who mostly do events like car shows.  So I think that was really lame.  She was trying to make her story sound cooler, but it’s not cool in my book.  I think there is a huge difference between getting paid to stand next to a car in short shorts and getting banged on camera.  I think both professions are cool, but I feel like these girls deserve a little honesty.

I personally dabbled with tapping when I first got into game.  It’s totally a placebo at best.  The hours you have to put in to make a difference are insane.  Time spend in the actual field is worth 10x as much.  And for real you can’t tap away shit tests.  As soon as a girl catches you tapping, you are burned.

I have been so busy with my new fulltime job that I haven’t had time to write more about Vegas.  I pretty much hit most of the highlights.  I have to say that the instructors there were pretty much a joke.  Somehow guys think that if they attend one workshop or bootcamp they can hang up a shingle and call themselves an instructor.

I think people should take this business more seriously.  There is really no oversite and I guess that is how there are so many charlatans out there.  Taking money from people when you’re not qualified is not cool in my book.  I am always working my butt off when I’m with a student and I do everything I can to blow up his social life.

Most of the ‘instructors’ in Vegas spent their time hanging out and ignoring students.  I saw a lot of them try and steal girls from students.  That is really shocking.  Some of the guys were so shocked at the end of the week with the students’ complaints.

Students were going off on their own without instructors and getting laid.  Then instructors who did nothing all week would take credit.  I could go name by name with who sucked, but I think the big part is a total lack of direction from the leadership.  Johnny basically never came to the infield stuff and there was no plan.  So without leadership all the instructors bounced around.

I will say that in my opinion Hypnotica, AFC Adam and Orleans were the only other guys there who should still be in this industry.  Orleans was the only instructor who actually got laid.  And his story is legendary.  He didn’t really spend much time with the students.  But overall I know he kept asking Johnny what was expected.  So at least he showed them what was possible.

I really like Harlequin, but he spent the whole time going off and doing awesome things with his buddy.  After the first day students basically never saw him.  Which is a real shame because his game is really tight and he has a lot of knowledge.

Just all these instructors who were totally distracted or never around.

This guy should not be allowed around women, let alone be allowed to try and make a living in the dating business.  He dresses like a cheese-dick from the seventies and is obsessed with dominating the room.

He walked into every seminar late and made a ton of noise to make sure he got noticed.  If you walk in late while someone else is talking, you don't stop the whole thing to say your greetings to everyone. 

This guy leads a crew of really creepy guys who can't seem to open sets, let alone close them.  His crew left trash all over the hotel and earned Johnny a $500 fine for leaving their laptops in a hotel room we were no longer using.  The world seems to be their trashcan.  This guy talks a lot about the women he has seduced, but when called out by Orleans didn't actually know what a shit test was.

He explained that the reason he performed so poorly infield was because he is not good at picking up women, he is good at getting picked up.  How can anyone actually say this?  He then explained that he went around a club with the goal of getting the strongest rejection possible and was hoping to be slapped by a woman. 

He tricked two models into coming into his seminar and demonstrated a complete and total lack of understanding of women.  He placed them on barstools next to the window with thirty guys between them and the door.  They looked trapped and were fidgeting like crazy.  His creepy friend then kept offering them food and the girls said they wanted to leave and go eat at a restaraunt.  It became clear that this was not an option and then this guy bragged about "taking care of his women."

He explained to the girls that he creates a container in which women can surrender to him.  He tried to embarass the students by pointing to them and asking the girls to rate them.  I then explained to him that girls care about personality more than looks.  When he asked in broken English if this was true he was SHOCKED that the girl agreed with me.  One of the students suggest that the girls guess which guys were coaches and which were students.  This idiot freaked out again and said that was a terrible idea.

When he talked about trying to get a bad reaction from women and just trying to get a date for a party, I asked the girl if she thought this was nice or if she wanted to slap him in the face.  She said she wanted to slap him in the face.  He of course scrambled to try and control her.

The girl even said "I have read the game, do you guys teach pickup stuff?"  His creepy partner said "No, nothing like that, I teach men to dominate women."  Both girls cringed and so did I.

I could go into more detail about the different ways this guy suggested lying to women, but seeing him do it to a woman's face was more than enough.  It was so obvious he was lying I wanted to die.  This guy and his crew should be kicked out of the dating industry.  Ideally they would be tarred and feathered.

He has already given a talk today at another event and lied about what happened in Vegas.  He claimed he was knee deep in pornstars.  I was at EVERY event he went to.  He talked to one girl.  And only because she was dating a guy Johnny knows.  Guess what – I talked to her too.  Five minutes with a friend's girlfriend is NOT something to blog about.

There is plenty more I could say about this guy.  My final point will be that the only way he was able to get a date for a fetish party was by bringing a prostitute.  And not a nice one.  Steer clear of this idiot.

If you put a gun to his family he wouldn't be able to open a set.  And of course he can't close one.  Stealing some material from pu101 and AMP does not a dating coach make you be.

Overall, this guy is the worst dating coach I have ever seen.  He has zero respect for women and even less understanding.  I have watched him lie to women, students and other coaches directly.  So now you know.  The guy is a creep.

A few weeks ago I was covering for another teacher at this uni I have been teaching at. I did a 1on1 4 hour English lesson with this super rich Kazakhstani dude. We were chilling. Basically unlike most douche bag English teachers I can talk to rich people about normal things like badass high end clubs and beautiful women. So we connected and I almost got him to buy a table at Jalouse through my homey. I gave him my connections number there and thought I would never see the dude again

last week I got asked to cover all 3 days with the dude. Of course! It was badass. He realized that the uni is crap and that an mba from there won’t actually help him, so all week we just chilled. He took me out to lunch all three days, gave me a carton of parliament ciggies, invited me to visit his homeland to hunt wolves and asked me to come to a high end brothel with him.

This last one really freaked me out at first. I was like isn’t this a moral decision? I guess only if people find out. I gave him a tentative yes, but then I texted like 5 of my friends. They all offered to go in my place. So then I talked to my house mate. I figured if anyone would talk me out of it, it would be him. He was like go for it. It seems like a badass experience.

So we meet and jump in a taxi right at 7. we saw from the website that this is when all the girls start their shifts. He originally wanted to go right after out lesson at 2, but then there would only have been 2 girls there. A big part of me was nervous about him paying etc. but I just put that to the back of my mind and did something I normally would never do.

We get there and have to pay this creepy dude 20 pounds each to go inside. There is a locker room, steam room, showers and a sauna. Hence the fact that the sign calls it a sauna. We have to go into the locker room and change into towels. It’s obvious we have never been there before as we keep getting lost. Then we don’t know if we keep our boxers under our towels.

Finally I am like fuck it let’s do this and I just skin up. He does the same. We go into the lounge. By lounge I mean room with 18 pros staring at us. We are nervous as shit. I don’t know why he is bc he has been to dozens of these before. So he tells the girls that I have low self confidence. It’s kinda funny. I gauge the reactions of the girls to see which ones I’m afraid of. Haha

it takes us about 10 minutes to choose the ones we like. Basically only a few of the girls were actually cute in my opinion. I got this blond girl who looked Russian. She was really stunning but actually Spanish. His girl was Brazilian. This meant they could talk shop in Spanish. Fair enough.

We go up to the vip room and man it was one small vip room. We could never be more than 10 feet apart. He of course pays for everything up front, including an hour with the girls. The total cost from walking us both in to partying for an hour was 690 pounds. He just paid cash. I think he was really intent on impressing me. I think there is something cool about taking your English teacher to a hor house. I certainly wasn’t complaining.

It took a few minutes to get going, but then it was on. She just threw a condom on me and started blowing. I’m sitting in a chair next to my boss getting the same action. It was so cool. After all of my previous group sex experiences, close proximity to another dude fucking doesn’t affect me. They moved to the bed while I got a badass bj. It actually wasn’t the best of my life, the mouse was still better. Maybe I should tell her?

This girl was definitely the hottest girl I’ve ever played with. She had beautiful natural breasts and just everything was smooth and nice. After a bit we joined the other two on the bed and started fucking. We did a good set of positions. My boss finished after about 20 minutes. I was like dude? We are on the clock!

I smashed my girl for a good 30 minutes and then gave her a 5 minute break. The other girl was like dude wtf are you doing you’re going to break her! And my boss was like fuck! My girl was like I can handle it ok! Aahahah. The best part was a bigass mirror right in front of the bed so I could see myself smashing this girl. I could really see how much better shape I am in. I still got 5 more kg to go, but that is another blog post. Hehe.

After a little break we got back too it. Soon she was covered in my sweat and body hair. I shed like a damn golden retriever. Oh well. She did make me do about 90% of the work and every time I slowed down she was like come on baby you’re not tired are you??? she got on top once per session for like 2 minutes. I mean I know she probably had 10 more dudes to go that night, but seriously.

At one point she did say something telling. She said that it’s really hard for girls in her profession to ever find guys. They just have no ability to trust men anymore. I think this has a lot to do with my boss being married with 3 kids and not so much about me. But I think it’s reasonable. With what I have seen of women in the last 2 years a lot of my beliefs have been shattered.

So I slammed this girl for the full 60 minutes. She kept saying how bad she wanted me to come. I wonder if she gets in trouble if I dont. I almost got that impression. So finally I came at the last possible moment. It was awesome. She was like wtf? That’s not very much milk for so much work! I was like I’m not a cow! She loved it and laughed and repeated it.

I think that was the one moment where she actually thought something was funny. Like the real her happened, but only for like 5 seconds. I am not stupid enough to think that we had a real connection. I have read about a lot of guys paying pros and then trying to game them. The only way to make a girl on the game like you more is to pay her more money.

Overall my experience was awesome. I felt so relaxed. It was really nice to have sex without a load of bullshit. If I was rich I would definitely have a new vice. I mean amazing sex with a beautiful woman and she doesn’t give you shit afterward. After all the shit I have been dealing with lately with other girls in my life, it was just so refreshing.

I felt so relaxed afterward and I ran some supertight sets as well. Both sets are still texting me and I have a date with one tonight. I never thought I would pay for it, but this year I had been considering it. Just as an experience, so when it came my way I did it.

I just spent a weekend with my man October, and with how much fun that was I realized I fucking love real girls and pros aren’t a replacement.

This party was awesome.  I will break it down into sections in a moment, but for me it was a dream come true.  I will right a separate account of my experiences and a field report as well.

The Bad

Let’s get this part out of the way first.  There was a real hassle getting into the festival.  They had a tiny entrance and about 5 tables of security, so searches were taking ages.  People started rioting so they just started letting people in faster and faster.  I actually never got searched.  They did have a police dog working the gate though.  Based on what I saw inside the festival, this was retarded.  The creepiest guys on earth were dealing at this festival.  At least in America the dealers look like the ravers.  Basically if you saw a black person there was a 95% chance they were dealing.  I only saw a few dudes there just having fun.  To be fair there were also really creepy Polish dealers too.The only problem I had with other people in the fest was in the last hour of the final night.  Some chavs were really looking for a fight.  We left 15mins before the last dj finished to just get away from all that crap.  Security wasn’t really paying attention.  But to be fair it was 545am on a Sunday morning.

The People

This festival was more than 80% chavs and tracksuit type people.  I looked around and my first thought was oh crap.  But actually the vibe was really good at this festival.  Everyone was cool until the last hour.  There was a really good energy and everyone was there to have fun.  I didn’t really have to deal with any crap and my mood never shifted.  I have been to a lot of raves and vibe is EVERYTHING.  Overall I rate all the people that came to GG.  Chavs aren’t so bad when they are just out to have fun, instead of ruin everyone else’s. I even met a really cool rave friend at Digweed and hopefully he will add me on facebook.  It reminded me of the rave friends I met at parties when I was 19.  It was a really good memory for me.

The Facilities

There were no showers.  So good lord.  I mean I was so shocked by that.  I guess it is only two days, but seriously!  Otherwise the food was fine and not too expensive.  The booze flowed really well.  They did run out of water at the end of the night saturday.  They had only one pipe to refill water bottles somewhere.  I never even saw it.  I was fine though.  My set never actually ran out.  I stocked up just in time!!

The Music

Let’s be honest this is what you want to hear about.  I have waited almost two weeks to right this so I will still try to stay on point, but we all know I don’t have perfect memory!  I am trying to decide if I should go in order of awesomeness or in order of appearance.  I think I will do the latter, since I can’t decide who was the most awesome! Ok crap.  I can’t really remember the order too good.  But I can remember who I saw! Aahaha

I saw him first for only about twenty minutes.  I wanted to check him out because I love a couple of his tunes.  Carry Me Away is so amazing.  His set was ok.  I mean he was playing at like 4pm the 1st day, but he wasn’t dropping amazing trance on my head.  I could only describe what I heard as ok.  I mean I was really catching my vibe and all, but it was a little too housey for me.

YumYum fucking loves this guy, so I gotta be careful what I say.  Basically it wasn’t my style.  He was loving it and the crowd was going nutz so I can’t complain really.  I just am not in a good place to judge it.  I’m not into electro.  YumYum can give a better review of the set.  I think for Erol it was just ok.  I will ask Yum again and change that if he says dif.

Fedde le Grand

I can’t remember his set!  Sorry guys.  I will ask Iceberg if he remembers.  Ahaha. (Wait the order is at least 90% right.)

Scratch Perverts

There set was cool but, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, it was a bit obvious.  They were playing mostly DnB with a lil of the hip hop mixed in.  Basically it was tracks I heard ages ago.  They were dropping tracks people really loved over a year ago.  Now the scratching was cool and they actually didn’t overdo it.  That part was nice.  I mean with scratch DJs that is a real risk that they get so caught up in their DMC crap that they forget people like to dance.  Overall I thought the 30mins I saw was good.  It wasn’t life changing but I DID have a good time dancing.

The Prodigy

I have mixed feelings about this set.  I enjoyed the music and that was awesome but the crowd turned nuts.  It makes sense.  The prodigy are the punk band of electronic music.  I mean they played all their badass hits and I was able to hear them between trips to the water tent and toilets etc.  Hehe.  Honestly when they played Breathe I was so happy.  When I got into the front of the crowd it was just too intense.  A ton of dudes were moshing.  The crowd was full of guys even bigger than Iceberg and he left because his feet kept getting stomped. The girl with me was really stressed when we were near the stage so we had to squeeze out.  It was simply too intense.  The music was awesome, I do recommend just chilling near the back of the crowd.  Great sound and a killer show.

David Guetta

I know he’s a big super store, but I kinda don’t really know that much about him.  I know 2 or 3 of his hits.  He wasn’t playing exactly trance though.  It was more like House but damn I loved it.  He played really sexy tunes and got the crowd just going insane.  He played killer tunes and rocked my world.  Simply an amazing set.  Top notch.

Paul van Dyk

He just lived up to his reputation.  It was really good.  I only caught part of the set but it was classic as always.  I guess for me the fact that PvD kinda always sounds the same wears me out.  He plays amazing tunes but I really like different vibes from different DJs.  If you like amazing high-quality trance, then this is a guy worth seeing.  It was really nice.

Stanton Warriors

Only caught 20 minutes but it was really cool.  Some sexy breaks.  I wasn’t super in a breaks mood, but I really enjoyed it for the time I was there.  If you have heard some of their stuff, then you know what to expect.  The crowd was enjoying it and it was all good.

Tiga

I was really excited to see him after reading about him a few years ago.  I really like the tunes of his that I have heard.  Unfortunately, his set simply sucked.  I wasn’t feeling any of the tunes.  I was bored and apparently everyone else was.  The tent was pretty empty.  Oh well.

Saturday

Eric Prydz

His set was really cool.  It was a little bit housey for my taste.  I mean honestly it was a wicked set.  It’s a little bit hard to enjoy it with the sun still out.  He is a wicked Dj.  I can’t remember too much of the set but when he dropped his current hit YumYum went nuts and THAT is a good sign!

Orbital

Fuck me!  They were so awesome I can’t even explain it.  I wish I was going to more of their festivals.  I’m tempted to cancel Creamfields and stay in London to see them again.  Honestly,  they DESTROYED it.  I have heard some of their stuff since my first weekend in the UK.  My first friend here loves them.  And you know what.  He is a genius.  If you like music at all you have to see Orbital.  They really brought the noise at this festival and were the highlight of the main stage and maybe the whole festival.

Armin van Buuren

Boom!  What a killer trance DJ.  His set was awesome and had such a good flow.  I was really feeling it and it was a good time.  He played some sexy tunes and it kept it all smooth.  It was a lovely little trip.  Ironically, the better sets get the shorter review.  It was really smooth.

Markus Schulz

You know he is my favorite DJ and he rocked my world at Ministry and he didn’t disappoint.  He plays such a deep form of progressive.  I really like it and I loved his set.  Unfortunately, the sound in this tent was too quiet and affected all of the DJs throughout the night.  But really he is great and hits me right in the emotions.  Deeeeeep.

Gareth Emery

He was really good.  I listen to his podcast constantly and I was glad to finally hear him live.  I might have seen him before, but I can’t be sure….hehe.  He is a really sound DJ that dropped some really good tunes.  He drops some progressive onto that trance.  It was really smooth.

John Digweed

He simply still has it.  What an amazing DJ.  I need to see him more and more.  I loved Digweed when I saw him 10 years ago.  The tunes he played were so deep and so insane.  Man this guy is a DJ worth seeing.  I feel like maybe people have forgotten that he basically created Progressive House.  My biggest regret of the festival is that I didn’t see 100% of his set.  I can’t wait to see him again.  Really!

Sander Kleinenberg

Total letdown.  When I saw him at Ultra in Miami a few years ago he played with a killer VJ and he destroyed it.  This time he let me down.  The set was supposed to be so cool as he was controlling the visuals.  It was so average.  The visuals were ok and the music was ok.  Seriously I know he has the ability to destroy it so that made the let down even worse.  Especially after what Digweed did.

Menno de Jong

He played the final set I saw.  The tunes were really good.  I  have liked a lot of his stuff in the past.  The sound was simply too quiet.  It’s a shame.  I really liked what he was doing and I would have liked to really feel it, but the sound was just killing me by this point.  I mean I don’t like my music too loud but everyone was complaining.  I will try to see this guy again.  He has good tunes and his mixes were spot on.

Conclusion

Man what a great weekend.  The only problem was the music ended way too early on Friday and the trouble at the gates.  Overall the festival is simply too short.  They overstack the Sat DJs and they just don’t have enough action on Friday night.  I would like a more balanced experience.  I didn’t really like all the rides and that crap but the people with me did and that is good enough for me.  The festival is trying to cater to a mixed crowd and I get that.  They just need nicer toilets. If you like good music then you should hit this fest!  I loved it!!!

This is probably the best movie for people in the scene.  It is simply amazing.  It really shows the way a guy can interact with his oneitis, the way he controls her without realizing it, the ways to escape your past and the power of friendship.

I hate the title of this movie and that kept me from watching it for a long time.  It is designed to catch the attention of teenage girls and I believe that is the intended audience for the movie, but the film is simply awesome.  I am not going to break down the plot there.  The truth is you will either trust me and watch this movie or not.  It still blows my mind how many guys want to get good with women, yet refuse to watch The L Word.  I have been screaming the name of that show for a full year now.  I bet you haven’t watched a single episode have you?  I don’t think anyone should be allowed to complain about escalation until they have watched at least 3 seasons.  It’s simply necessary.

But this movie is amazing at showing the power friendship can play in social dynamics.  The sweetness of this movie is really inspiring.  If you want to really understand how relationships blossom in a dynamic way, watch this movie.  It is really powerful and moving.  You will learn a lot about all of the other prerequisites of game too, don’t worry.  It has a ton of frame control, shit tests and locational comfort.

Like I said, I watched this movie for the 2nd time last night.  There is about 20 minutes I would like to cut out of the movie, as one character is just really annoying to me.  But I skip through her  scenes and it’s fine now.  I think the most powerful lesson comes from the last lines of the movie.  The girl says “Are you sad that we missed it?” and the boy responds with “We didn’t miss it.  This IS it.”

He is so right.  Often we are so unable to live in the moment as we focus on what isn’t happening in our lives.  Concerts are awesome.  I love them.  I go all the time.  What is really important is the emotions we share and the impact we have on the world.  I recommended this movie on the London forum recently.  Something tells me a lot of guys are missing this amazing movie.  And that is a shame.  Because this is it.

For me this show was such an addiction.  It’s basically mindless drivel.  I used to listen to it on the train, while I was playing video games and just when I was walking around the city.  It’s not evil or anything.  I don’t have a problem with the filth etc. Like most people who complain about this show do.  It’s something else.

First of all, it’t not great to pour mindless stuff into my head 4-5 hours a day.  That is just a lot.  Also that adds up to sometimes 20 hours a week.  That is a part time job.  That means that this show was having more influence on me than anything else in my life.  That is a lot of time to something that is at best non-productive.  I have been trying to quit for a while because it limits my productivity.

Also I am really emotionally empathic.  For example when I’m reading a serial killer book, I keep looking over my shoulder.  When I read a sci-fi book, I dream of robots and space travel.  Listening to this show often puts me into a negative state or a victim mentality.  At best it turns off my talking and puts me into a purely listener state.  So that if I’m on the train and I see a cute girl, listening to this on my ipod creates a bigger hurdle for the approach.  I have to turn off the show and change my state, just to open.  That’s too much work.

Even worse is the frame that the show imposes.  Beautiful women have all the power and men must serve.  Only by being rich can one hope to snag a beautiful woman.  It’s just all too much of the wrong frame.  The world is only like that if you believe it.  It’s not the way to be.  Women don’t have that kind of power over men and there is more to life than just looks.  Honestly, listening to this show and not paying attention just implants the exact reverse of the mindset I want.  I date women that are unreasonably good looking in my estimation.  So this show is incongruent with my world.  I can’t have two things in my life that are at war.

So think about the things you watch and listen to.  They influence you.  I still keep wanting to listen to this show.  At some points it’s so hilarious.  But I can’t live within that negative frame anymore, life is just too good.

As the only American at Urban Art Forms this year, I think it is my duty to take the time to write out a full and detailed review.  So I will cover the basics now. 

The Weather

It rained pretty heavily for most of the time I was there.  The stages are actually on proper flooring, not on a field, so the festival wasn't really affected.  The tent area however, turned into a mudbath.  It was totally crazy.  All the locals seemed to have wellies with them, so they adapted nicely.

The Facilities

The provided several sets of indoor toilets and showers.  The quality was pretty high and they didn't seem to run out of toilet paper.  Make sure you bring some of your own just to be safe, along with a towel and one euro coins for the showers!  The whole place was pretty nice and everything was within 10 minutes walking.  Some of the toilets did get clogged during the festival, but there seemed to be staff there all the time trying to clean up etc.

The stages were divided into two areas, so you could spend 30 minutes getting out of one area and through security of the next.  This was kind of annoying, as I love psytrance!  The decorations were pretty good and the food and beer were not TOO overpriced.  Certainly more than most pubs in Austria, but less than a lot of high end clubs in London.  The food was tasty, although I brought a lot of my own as well.  Good way to get through it all.

Near the psytrance tent they had a drug testing setup as well.  Similar to what DanceSafe does.  They would test everyone's gear to make sure no one got poisoned etc.  I think in this day and age that is a really important thing.  Safety first!  Also a few of my friends had to go by the first aid station.  They had a proper doctor there in addition to all the ambulances.  The medical treatment was pretty quality in my book.

The People

Austrians are really friendly and amazing.  I wasn't sure what to expect, but everyone I met was so cool and shared their supplies.  I made some new friends.  The girls in Austria are pretty as well, so if you're at the festival looking for that it's possible.  I was so busy with my friends and rushing to see all the DJs etc, that I only met a few girls.  I was the only American there and a lot of people were shocked and didn't believe I was from Los Angeles.

You can definately come to this festival alone and not have to worry about having a killer time and making amazing friends.  It all really flows nicely.  The vibe was really positive.  I did see one fight at the back of the main stage though.  It ended quickly and the first thing I heard someone say was, "Germans…"  I thought that was hilarious.  Austrians kick ass.

The Music

This is what you really want to hear about.  If you like psytrance or drum and bass, then this festival is a no brainer.  It's cheap, not too crowded and these stages were amazing.  All of the DJs I saw were awesome and the vibe was so cool.  The mainstage was a mix of genres, mostly focusing on techno.  I have to say that Deadmau5 was awesome.  Definately the highlight of the show for me.  Personally, I really love trance and that was sorely missing at the festival.  Overall, the sound quality was insane and never too loud.  They had sound engineers all over the place constantly checking levels.  That part was really top notch.  If you like any of the DJs on the lineup, then I definately recomend checking out this festival.
