I recently read the book Sole Survivor.  It’s about the journey of a guy who became a Navy Seal and then barely survived after his entire team is killed in front of him in Afghanistan.  The book is amazing and super intense and it’s a totally true story.

Today I want to talk with you about something from the first part of the book – Navy Seal Training.  If you have ever watched Discovery Channel then you have probably seen some Navy Seals training.  I have met several Navy Seals in my life and these guys are some seriously tough bastards.  During the training there is a bell on the beach that anyone can ring to say that he’s quit.  After you ring the bell, they give you a second chance.  Only a few guys actually take that second chance and get back to doing pushups in the surf at 3am.  But NONE of those guys ever actually complete the Navy Seals training.  None of them.

You know why?  Their spirit has already broken.  Once there is a crack, it’s easy for it to break again.  Ringing that bell a second time is a hell of a lot harder than the first time.

The guys who actually pass through all the training have already decided that they will either complete the training or die trying.  They don’t have a third option.  There’s a reason these guys are on the front line.

So how does this relate to meeting women?  Well let me tell you.

I get calls and emails from guys about training all the time.  In London I taught hundreds of guys  and in that time I learned to be able to tell who would succeed and who wouldn’t.  The reason I became so good so fast is that when I read The Game I made a decision.  I would master pickup or I would die trying.  I would not give up without leaving a lot of my blood on the floor.  And if you read from my first six months in pickup there is a lot of bleeding.  I failed so much, but I never gave up.  I never considered ringing the bell.  But every single guy who does always falls short.

It was this way for all the guys I came up with and it’s that way for guys now.  My lovesystems bootcamp was so expensive for me.  I was a full time student at the time just scraping by with a tutoring gig.  It took me THREE months after my bootcamp to pay it off.  And guess what?  I fought and bled for that money.  And I worked my ass off in my bootcamp.  It was a fight or die scenario for me.

I get calls from guys who just don’t want to put in the effort.  And there’s nothing I can do.  When a guy calls me to cancel a session I know that he’s ringing the bell and it breaks my heart.  There are tons of excuses I hear.  And I’m really not trying to call anyone specific out here.  This has happened to me about 30 times in my teaching career.  The moment a guy says he can’t afford it or doesn’t have time or wants to get good enough to use his lesson with me well.  All I hear is a ringing bell.  I am insanely good at sales.   I could talk any guy into taking a lesson from me.

But if it doesn’t come from within then it won’t last.  It’s sad but it’s just the way life is.  If you want to succeed at something, remove all other options from the table.

I might sound like a dick right now, but if there’s one thing about me I practice what I preach.  I just signed a contract with a new gym today that is KILLING me.  I am flying to Hawaii in 21 days for a month.  I told the guys I want to lose 20 pounds before my flight takes off.  I will do whatever it takes.  I am retraining my heart and my body and it hurts so bad.  But I don’t have a third option.  I have zero doubt that I will be looking super sexy before I hit the island.  And guess what?  When I get back I’m doing another month before I try to move permanently.  I want it so bad I can taste it.

So if you want to get good at pickup – beg, borrow and steal to get the training you need.  And please.  Don’t even think about ringing that bell.

So I am in Atlanta after the worst roadtrip of all time.  It normally takes 3-4 hours to get here from Nashville, but a pit opened in the middle of the free way.  The damn thing was 25 feet deep.  I never even got to see it, but traffic was backed up to a complete stop.  Everyone just turned their cars off for hours.  Took me nearly 8 hours and 2 redbulls to get here.

Last night I just grabbed a couple of beers and chilled with TenMagnet.  Hard to believe we haven’t chilled in nearly two years.  Not since SuperConference in LA back in 2008.  We have stayed in touch through some forums, facebook etc. 

We have just been swapping bootcamp stories and shooting the shit about all the instructors we know in common.  It’s cool to be hanging out with someone I really respect.  He’s got a bootcamp this weekend and I’m just hanging out and helping out.  I really look forward to tearing it up in field tonight. 

A local lair guy is letting me crash in an extra bedroom in his apartment all weekend as well.  Which is totally badass.  So far this city has been really welcoming.  I almost             stopped off to see this girl yesterday on my way to Atlanta.  She would only guarantee that we could hang out.  And not anything more.  So I didn’t bother.  Let’s be honest I’m just too damn lazy.

So now I’m sitting in some conference room waiting for the action to begin.  There is no internet in this hotel for some damn reason, so I’m just going to be writing articles and blog posts all day I reckon.  C’est la vie.

I have been so busy with my new fulltime job that I haven’t had time to write more about Vegas.  I pretty much hit most of the highlights.  I have to say that the instructors there were pretty much a joke.  Somehow guys think that if they attend one workshop or bootcamp they can hang up a shingle and call themselves an instructor.

I think people should take this business more seriously.  There is really no oversite and I guess that is how there are so many charlatans out there.  Taking money from people when you’re not qualified is not cool in my book.  I am always working my butt off when I’m with a student and I do everything I can to blow up his social life.

Most of the ‘instructors’ in Vegas spent their time hanging out and ignoring students.  I saw a lot of them try and steal girls from students.  That is really shocking.  Some of the guys were so shocked at the end of the week with the students’ complaints.

Students were going off on their own without instructors and getting laid.  Then instructors who did nothing all week would take credit.  I could go name by name with who sucked, but I think the big part is a total lack of direction from the leadership.  Johnny basically never came to the infield stuff and there was no plan.  So without leadership all the instructors bounced around.

I will say that in my opinion Hypnotica, AFC Adam and Orleans were the only other guys there who should still be in this industry.  Orleans was the only instructor who actually got laid.  And his story is legendary.  He didn’t really spend much time with the students.  But overall I know he kept asking Johnny what was expected.  So at least he showed them what was possible.

I really like Harlequin, but he spent the whole time going off and doing awesome things with his buddy.  After the first day students basically never saw him.  Which is a real shame because his game is really tight and he has a lot of knowledge.

Just all these instructors who were totally distracted or never around.

I am proud of all of my ex-students, but the one who shines the most is my man October.  He did a single lesson with me and became a machine.  His blog is basically my favorite one to read.  He is having threesomes and skinny dipping parties constantly.  So when he told me he was coming down for the Mehow conference I knew we needed to link up.

On our 1on1 we almost had a spitroast and as I hoped, lightening struck twice.  It’s funny because we both rock beards.  I was helping out on a LoveSystems bootcamp for my man Mr M, so I couldn’t really focus on October til my students were taken care of. He has some really good panache and I was dressed to the 9s, so it was on.  He opened a girl and she loved him but walked off.  I walk by a minute later and eye fuck her big time.  While I’m talking to him she walks up.  They start talking and there is massive sexual tension.  I know enough to keep my mouth shut.  If he is attraction, then I am either comfort or silence.

Once she is amped up (after about 5 minutes) I join the conversation.  Just close talking and Shane Game.  She starts thinking that me and October are a couple and starts throwing that shit test our way.  I just ask her which one of us is hotter.  She can’t decide.  Translation – It is ON like Donkey Kong.  So we do some 3way grinding, with her in the middle you perverts!!!  It was cool and sexy.  I try to isolate her by saying let’s go get a shot.  Now I tried my Orpheus move.  I just walked without looking back and assuming that she was following.  This move only works when it is super on.  It was me and then her and then October.  So I didn’t grab her arm for the isolation.

She says she can’t go away from her friends and we lose her.  It’s not a problem, we will just come back later.  In a bit I am outside with Doc and I just ignore her.  She grabs me and rubs her face on mine and says I am her new best friend to Doc.  It was awesome.  I couldn’t get a kiss outa her though.  It is clear this girl needed to be extracted.  Later on the three of us are trying to leave.  She doesn’t want to leave her friends as it is a girl’s birthday.

We are near the door chatting and trying to amp up her BT (Buying Temperature).  Her friend comes over and yells at her and makes her cry.  GAME OVER.  There is basically nothing to be done at this point.  October left before I did, but he was right.  As soon as a girl cries, flee the set.  That is my advice.

We chilled again the next night, but we were both so tired that nothing came of it.  It’s hard to get energy when you can’t give energy.  Also, I met his man Machine.  That guy is really cool.  Don’t wanna forget that.  I really want to get enough breathing room in my schedule to visit these guys in Cambridge.

It is gonna take me a few days to totally decompress all that went down last weekend.  The first thing I wanna do is write down my thoughts on each of the guys I met this weekend.  If there is anyone I forgot, I will try to get back and add them in later or throw ‘em into another post.  Ok so here is my review of all the guys I met.

Helicase – I am probably the only fan this guy already has.  But it’s for the funniest reason.  He’s really new on the scene.  About one year ago he took a one on one with DaHunter.  And if you know me, you know that I got obsessed with DaHunter’s blog last Spring and I read every single post over a weekend.  So I read the whole progression from student to close friend and wing.  So last weekend I finally met him.  I mean I met a character from one of my favorite stories.  This guy is sound as a pound.  When I accused him of messing up our set by switching targets in the middle, he went holy crap and grabbed the other girl and left me alone with the one I liked.  She ended up running out of the room accusing me of making her feel like a whore.  But Helicase really stepped up by letting me try to save it.  The guy is an inspiring instructor.  He runs really loud LA game, even though he’s from Chicago.  I am not sure why he’s not more famous yet, but this guy walks the walk.  His students love him.  His game is tight as a drum.  And when he gets drunk he is crazy/funny as hell.  I was talking him out of fights with cars in a parking lot for like an hour.  It was solid gold.  He keeps close to his friends and I really enjoyed his company.  Sound as a pound…..PS I just remembered.  If you can’t order off the secret menus at InandOut and Jamba Juice Helicase doesn’t think that you’re American.  He wants it to be on the new test for citizenship.

Suave – He came out with us Friday night as well.  I honestly didn’t get to spend as much time with him as I would have liked.  I knew him from some forums, so I was curious to put the man with the legend.  First of all, Sheriff told him that he looks like a Centaur from the Narnia movies, and holy crap he does.  It’s the strangest but best call I’ve seen in ages.  I watched the 2nd one on the flight home just to double check.  Anyways, here is what I did see.  This guy is a behemoth.  He is really tall and thick.  The guy is friendly and just opens everyone he sees.  He’s quite jolly and I like that.  I didn’t spend enough time with him to see his deeper game, but I like the guy.  I’m cynical as hell, so at least I met someone cool.  I look forward to chilling with this dude in the future.

Sinn – He totally ignored me every chance he got.  Like he made a point of being really rude to me, when it was totally unnecessary.  I never went after him, but all of his friends were out chilling with me so we ran into each other about a dozen times.  We even gamed 2 girls on the same couch for about an hour Saturday night.  So I got to hear all of his deeper game.  Man it was pure routines.  The girl with me kept laughing at his lines.  Especially the almost kiss routine.  I was really surprised.  And I hate to hate on another guy’s girls, but I was shocked at the quality of girl around him all weekend.  My girl was way hotter than his and that really surprised me.  And smartass Rokker too.  The guy knows a lot of game, but he was straight mean to me so I got no love.

Fader – He recognized me standing in front of the hotel before anyone else was around.  I was really surprised, but he was super nice about it.  I didn’t see him game much, but his stories were pretty funny and he was a nice guy.  To me niceness = value.

Moxie – We never got to have a proper chat, but he remembered a post I wrote to him a while ago on a forum and was really nice to me all weekend.  He was super high energy with me all weekend and shouted my name and gave me lots of high fives all weekend.  I was feeling sick all weekend so I never hit his energy level.  But again he was a really cool, nice, high-energy dude.

Sphinx – This dude is cool.  He reminds me of home in a major way.  He is a soldier dude and I come from a soldier state.  We chatted for a bit at the beginning.  I wish I had a little more time to chat to him and I’m really hoping that Prestige and him take me up on my offer to visit london.  Anyways, he is going to be on Keys to the VIP soon and I can’t wait to see.  He was talking it up so I have a good feeling.

Prestige – This dude and Sphinx roll together.  They live in the same town and are super tight.  You ever met someone and know that they could kill you?  I had that feeling with Prestige.  Obviously, I am still alive, but only because he wills it.  This guy is super nice though.  Which is really great.  He is not a soldier-dude at all.  He really separates work from play and I respect that a lot.  We joked around some and had a really good vibe.  Sometimes I meet a dude and just feel super comfortable.  We were both out instructing Saturday night and at one point I’m leading a girl through the club while winging a student.  We are walking past Prestige and I just push him outa the way as a joke.  The girl was like holy crap.  I was like oh.  All the tough guys bow down to me.  She was in total shock.  I was like just kidding that dude is my friend.  So she started breathing again.  Any dude that let’s me get away with that is a damn legend in my book.  I can’t wait til he comes to London with Sphinx.

Big Business – He didn’t kill me after my joke that his name used to be Little Business.  I appreciate anyone who let’s me tell my jokes.  I didn’t expect such a little, adorable guy with a name like BB.  But there you go.  I never saw him game, but we chilled out a lot and it was really smooth.  He’s a super nice guy and well worth chilling out with.  We had some lovely times by the pool together.  I really respect his confidence wearing the same shirt for 5 days in a row.

Biskit – This guy is French Canadian, so out of the gate he’s got a major disadvantage.  He seems to have dealt with his challenge really well and overcome.  He’s like an after school special.  He is really friendly and loved my idea of helping out in London when we have French students.  I think his bilingual skills can really be an asset.

TenMagnet – When Ten and Cajun walked into the room it was like when the dwarfs roll in during lord of the rings.  I was dying.  They aren’t that short, but the definitely got the dwarf-walk down.  Plus they are canadian so they wear a lot of denim and animal skins.  I would say that I made my best connection with TenMagnet this weekend.  We just really clicked.  He’s a super cool, honest and nice guy.  He’s unassuming and he doesn’t waste time bragging.  We chilled a lot in field and by the pool.  He’s hilarious and I wish I had been well enough to get drunk with him and learn Canadian songs.  His concept of game is really good and straightforward.  I hope he comes to Europe again soon so I can learn from him.  But really I just look forward to chilling with him again.

Cajun – His rep is so big right now that I didn’t know how to approach him.  So he just walked up to me and started asking about Sasha.  He knew exactly who I was and we chatted a bit.  He’s a really unassuming guy, especially considering how much everyone worships him with his Keys to the VIP win in his pocket.  We chatted and chilled.  It was wicked casual and I got a lot of respect for that.  He sure has to field a lot of questions about that tv show.  I did wish his cousin was around, as I would have been interested in meeting him.  Anyways, we had a chill time and I was lucky enough to work with him Saturday night.  He has a really casual leadership style, which leaves a lot of room for my wings to spread.  I hope that I get more time to chill with him in the future.  I now have a really positive opinion of Canadians.  I think I will make a point of going there in the near future.

TSB Guys -  I met the three dudes from The Seduction Bible.  They were really cool and just fun to hang out with.  They listened in to some of my coaching and asked a lot about my methodology etc.  It was really fun to be interviewed.  I hope they write up an article about me.

Jake P – This guy is one of Brad P’s new proteges.  I was really impressed by Brad P’s speach, but I was too nervous to push my conversation when I met him.  I actually froze up when Jake introduced me.  But I felt comfortable working my sidekick game.  I feel comfortable with that, as it brings me back to my uni days.

DaHunter -  I have wanted to meet this dude for 6 months.  Ever since I fell in love with his dark, dark blog.  Shame he hasn’t posted since then.  I had to read it all in a weekend.  Like watching a whole season of Lost in one go.  I ran into him while I was running Starlight to his car to say goodbye.  And so I only got like 3 minutes and at first I didn’t realize who he was.  My biggest disappointment of the weekend was only getting 3 minutes with this animal.  I enjoyed chatting to him and he seemed really chill.  I almost wanna fly back to LA right now just to go in field with him.

Kisser – This guy is so damn nice.  I mean if you meet him, consider yourself lucky.  I have wanted to meet him ever since I read a few of his forum posts a few months ago and he really lived up to my expectations.  We spent some good time chilling and got to work together Saturday night.  He was so nice to my dad and really, genuinely interested in him.  It was cool.  His game is insanely good and it was really nice to meet someone who qualifies girls for the same quality as me, niceness.  We had a really good talk about that.  It was cool.  I really hope he comes out to London for a visit.

The Don – He taught my bootcamp ages ago.  He only met me when I was a lot fatter with much longer hair.  So of course I assumed he wouldn’t recognize me.  I was dead wrong.  After the first instructor chillout meeting, waiting for the elevators he looks at me and goes holy crap!  Dude you look so different.  It made me feel really good.  I give him a lotta points for that.  We didn’t get to chat much after that, but I always felt really welcome around him and that counts for a lot.  safe.

So I ran my first bootcamp last week. It sold out in a two hours. I even had extra students, so I extended it to two nights. The first night I had 4 students and 2 guest instructors, Mystel and CrossFire. I gave a short talk on Shane-Game concepts and honesty game. I talked for about 20 minutes, because in-field work is far more important. We all went upstairs to get started in the club and one student said he was going to the bathroom. I never saw or heard from him again. I called and texted but no reply. I can only assume that it was an attack of AA. It’s really a shame because I could have helped him a lot.

So the other guys worked really hard. My pivot showed them the power of social proof and really shone. She was only there for the first hour, but she really accomplished a lot. My students went from being unable to open, to locking into sets for hours at a time. Mystel and I had to take shifts watching and waiting. It was like a stakeout. My other student was far more advanced. He was blowing open sets from word one. With him I really worked on sexual escalation. He did everything that I said. It was really great to have a student who just trusted me. He exploded. He was isolating, escalating and generally tearing it up in the club. He really advanced a lot.

Overall the experience was exhausting, but really worth it. I hope to do more and more teaching in the time leading up to the SuperConference in Los Angeles. I have a big talk next week that I think is really going to be awesome. I gave the rough version to Virgo and he absolutely loved it.

Normally I try to write about each different event as it happens, but the bootcamp with Sheriff is now over and 3 day are all broiling around in my head.  I will do my best to give a cohesive account of the events that occurred.

On Friday, I spent the morning recovering from the insanity of the Rockstar bootcamp.  Sheriff asked me to make it to the seminar part of the bootcamp, so that the students could see my face and find me easily during in-field in the club.  It was cool to see a roomful of fresh young faces.  So many of the students couldn’t believe that I was sitting there just a few months ago.  Like everyone else in game, they had heard of my infamous bootcamp experience.  It’s nice to be known.  I spent some time chatting to the guys, then the instructors headed off to the club.  One student came with us.  I taught him some basic streetgame and he number-closed a girl in like two minutes.  Maybe I do know what I’m talking about….

We get to the club and Sheriff puts me in charge of my first student.  Stickler is in charge of me, so I know I am in safe hands.  I haven’t seen him in ages, so it’s nice to run into my Guildford homie.  I get two students winging each other while I sit and have a chat with Vercetti, easily watching them over his shoulder.  One of my students just won’t lock in, so I know I have to help him out.  I get massive instructor anxiety, IA, but V talks me through it.  I grab a chair, walk up to my student and say that I’m not using this chair does he want it.  He takes the chair and sits.  He’s still not locked in, but at least he’s seated.

The rest of the night is kind of a blur now.  The white wine flowed and my students rocked out.  I kept changing students with other instructors and everything went really well.  One of my students really connected with me and was able to get 3 closes I think, numbers and facebook.  I am really competitive as an instructor, so I always want to have the most closes for my student.  I didn’t open a single set of my own all night, which was kind of a tragedy because there were several insanely beautiful Indian girls about.  During the debrief at the end of the night, I couldn’t even listen as one smoking hot girl was standing behind Sheriff.

I missed the entire second day of seminars, as I spent it moving into my new apartment in London.

I get a text from Sheriff around 8 putting me under Vercetti’s care for the night and sending me deep south to Inferno’s.  Now a lot of people have started hitting up this club lately bc of some of my LRs.  So I don’t go down there except for bootcamps anymore.  It’s just so far away.  I was kind of nervous about the night bus situation to be honest, as I had only lived in my new apartment for about 2 hours.

I get down to Clapham South and I can’t find anyone.  I was waiting at the tube gates for like 25 minutes.  I finally link up with Vercetti who had taken a bus and we get in contact with Stickler.  All the guys were way early and waiting inside the club.  I met flux and ran into beeballer again.  Both are pretty cool dudes.  The one tough thing about Rockstar is that I can’t pursue new friendships as much as I would like.  Anyways, I get a student and a glass of wine and I’m off to the races.  I just start putting my students in set after set.  Every student opened this one smoking hot girl during the night with me.  It was so funny.  Everytime he went to the bar I sent one of them in.  They all did really well.  I didn’t even realize it was the same girl until the 3rd student.  It was pretty funny.  She was a blonde so I didn’t really pay attention to her personally.  One of my students rocked out a kclose and all of them were really pleased with their results.  One of them is from Newcastle, so next time I’m up there I’m gonna definately chill with him.

At the end of the night V asked me about Shane-state so I decided to drop a demo.  Now if you pay attention you know that I am becoming a shot-girl jedi.  I get deep into ShaneState and start walking through the club with V.  He keeps trying to encourage me to open sets, so I have to explain that ShaneGame is nothing like normal game.  It’s about making the girls open me.  And creating my own universe.  (ps I watched a ton more L-word last night)  I finally decide that game time is over and in superstate I walk off.  I work a shotgirl and I’m deep into comfort within 2 minutes.  I can’t post my routine here as I don’t want everyone to run it on the same poor girl.  She loved me but logistics got between us.  Damn them!  Otherwise I could have had her.  My only mistake was talking to the blonde girl instead of the brunette.  Sigh.  What is wrong with me.

During the night other stuff happened, including calming down one student and teaching them super high energy emergency winging.  I personally consider Inferno’s to be a very advanced club.  The energy gets super intense around midnight and even I get really stressed.  After it was all over, V an I end up with a student chilling in McDonald’s and just talking through the night.  It was really cool as this was my first real, deep convo with V.  He’s a really sound dude.  At the bus stop with the student I run into two Indian10s.  They were stunning cousins.  A neurologist and a psychologist.  Pow.  Needless to say I was so distracted that I never picked a target.  My own fault.  I just meandered.

Sunday night I met up with guys for the end of the seminar and a dinner with Sheriff.  The feedback on my instructing was super positive and I am really pleased.  I really want to pass on what I have gained from my experiences.  I will probably get in contact with some of the students later, but right now I am so overwhelmed with Rockstar, that I just have no time.

I wish I could remember all of the sets I ran this weekend, but I do want to try and write a lil FR for posterity. I missed a really good close Saturday night bc of my Devil’s 3way with Soul. So I will focus on this one.

We got to this massive club early and really dominated. We had a crew of 20-30 guys there all really in a great mood. I start running demos for students and trying to get them into the set and then running off to leave them to it. I was super in state because of craziness with Soul and a student on the tube. I was so much fun. I was just really talking to everyone. When I’m in a good mood on the train I just talk really loud and tell jokes and then open any girl by asking if she’s listening in. It’s so money for fun conversations. I got distracted and missed closing a really hot brunette. I blame Soul for not grabbing me and making me talk to her. But look I’ve already digressed!!

Anyways there was a smoking hot blond shot girl working in the club. Every guy tried to run game on her and I think they miscalibrated. I quickly got her talking about regular life and found out that it was her first night and that she was super nervous. I encouraged her and told her to come find me anytime she needed emotional support. I talked about how it was my first time in this big scary club too. It was true. She found me several times during the night and I also made a connection with another shot girl. It was really cool.

She found me for the 3rd or 4th time and one of my students bought a shot from her. I was thinking oh no! What a way to make her stay in work mode. He then even gave the shot to me. Fortunately, I was already in deep rapport with her. I really focused on checking to see how her night is, compliment the funny shot-girl suspenders she has to wear and just make her smile. My focus was value-giving. She accepted my frame and came to me for comfort and validation. I got a ton of sexy pics at this point and set up an instant date for when she got off work 30 minutes before the club closed. I didn’t want to push sexual escalation while she is still working and can get in trouble. That’s a legitimate barrier imho. She was really keen and kinoing back.

Unfortunately, I left the club with another girl by this point, but I will definitely visit this club again.
